Is HandDIY accurate enough to actually buy materials from?
Within 1–2% on rooms under 600 square feet. Beta users cut hardware-store return trips by about 80%. We add real-world cut waste to the shopping list, so the number you walk out with matches what you need on the wall.
Do I need a special phone?
You need an iPhone Pro from 2020 or newer (iPhone 12 Pro and later) or an iPad Pro with LiDAR. That's the only requirement.
Is it free? Are you going to charge me later?
The core scan, project math, and shopping list are free, forever. Pro features — project history, contractor-share links, plan exports — will be paid. You'll never lose the basics.
How is this different from Polycam or Magicplan?
Those make 3D models for architects. We make shopping lists for homeowners. The math in HandDIY is built around the project you're doing — paint area, flooring with cut waste, tile counts, board feet — not raw geometry.
What about my crooked old walls?
LiDAR captures non-square rooms by design. That's the whole point. If you live in a 1920s house with no square corners, HandDIY will be more useful to you than the tape measure ever was.
